Partnerships
Partnership is one of our five Corporate Priorities and
our aspirations in this area influence everything we do.
We are actively involved in a wide range of joint working
groups; from small initiatives geared to addressing local
antisocial behavioural issues, to Area level local planning
partnerships and UK wide emergency planning groups.
As active partners we know that we have much to offer and
much to gain from sharing expertise and experience with colleagues
from other services.
Local Partnerships
Across our Areas, our staff are working in collaboration with
partner agencies to improve our Service for local people.
Aberlour
Our close links with the charity sector help us target our
Service where it is needed most. In partnership with Aberlour, we
work to instill a positive attitude in young people prone to anti
social behaviour.

Initiatives
Smoking Cessation
An innovative partnership with NHS Health Scotland
which aims to reduce the number of smokers and the number of
fires that are caused by smoking materials.
Stop and Talk
Our Stop & Talk initiative puts our operational staff out on
the road to cycle home the safety message. Specially trained
firefighters provide fire safety advice and support to all
sections of their community and play their part in reducing the
number of fire related incidents and our carbon footprint.
Deliberate Fire Reduction
Our Strategic Partnership with West Dunbartonshire Council Waste
Management Section allows both services to work together to reduce
the number of deliberate fires and wheelie bin fires across
Strathclyde.
Strategic Partnerships
Our strategic partnerships influence
our Service plans across Strathclyde.
Strathclyde Youth
Strathclyde Youth is a voluntary
organisation working on behalf of a network of youth projects
across the Strathclyde area. Our asscoaition with this vital
organisation helps us meet our aim of developing the youth
engagement skills of our staff. Find out more by visiting the
Strathclyde Youth
website.
Glasgow Housing Association
Our partnership with Glasgow Housing
Association (GHA) allows us to target our fire safety work at those who
are at greatest risk by raising awareness of the dangers of
fire in social housing areas. You can read more about our work by
visiting the GHA website.
Retired Employees Association
They say that working for Strathclyde
Fire & Rescue is like being part of a large and supportive
family and in many ways that's true. People who join the service
tend to stay a long time and the relationships they make last long
after their service comes to an end. Our Retired Employees Association provides a vital
link for those who have left the Service and allows them to
continue to contribute to fire safety.
Family Support Trust
Strathclyde Fire & Rescue Family Support Trust
(founded in 1923) is the oldest Fire and Rescue Charity
in the United Kingdom and, is the only UK Fire Service Charity
run within a specific Fire and Rescue Service for the benefit of
members and former members of that Service. The Charity, modernised
and changed its name from Strathclyde Widows and Orphans Fund, to
SFR
Family Support Trust, in December 2007. Community
Planning Partnerships
Strathclyde Fire & Rescue also works with the Community
Planning Partnerships of the 12 unitary authorities that comprise
the area we cover.
