Road Traffic Collision Research
Strathclyde Fire and Rescue are committed to reducing the numbers of persons killed or seriously injured on our roads. We are now actively engaged in seeking ways we can make these unacceptable statistics decrease. We shall make every endeavour to ensure that through partnership working, FRS efforts support Scottish Government objectives and are in synergy with other key agencies involved in road safety prevention and promotion.

This will be achieved by assisting Fire and Rescue Services to improve road safety and casualty care and recovery, through focusing on the following key road safety principles, Engage, Educate, Emergency Response and Evaluate.

Engage
This is the SFRS unique contribution. The SFRS is a trusted and credible organization with a proven track record of community safety delivery and brings freshness and vitality to the agenda.

Educate
To optimise success, coordinated, multifaceted approaches with partners must be used to educate people by raising their awareness in road safety issues. The SFRS are already working with communities with a focus on those high-risk groups.

Emergency Response
The requirement for intervention is undeniable. When such rescues are required, we can enhance our casualty care by continually improving our expertise in extrication.

Evaluate
SFRS will develop multi agency data sharing and intelligence protocols which are aligned to our integrated risk management plans to influence future interventions and to enable impact of what the SFRS and our partners deliver us to be tracked. Ensure that the effectiveness of initiatives and their outcomes on our communities are fully evaluated.
