Lochgilphead Anthony Nolan Weekend
Following the success of the Oban Anthony Nolan events last
August, WC Ian MacInnes and CC John Sweeney are planning
another series of events this spring.

Pictured above are WC Ian MacInnes and CC John Sweeney
presenting Anthony Nolan's Regional Fundraising Manager,
Lindsay MacCallum with a cheque for the money raised at the
Oban events.
Our colleagues in Argyll & Bute will be continuing the
fantastic work that they started last year with another campaign to
get new names on the bone marrow register for our charity partners
Anthony Nolan.
The weekend of the Friday the 29th and Saturday the
30th April will see a host of activities in Lochgilphead
which should not only attract local people but will hopefully
entice the wider Strathclyde Fire & Rescue family to enjoy a
day out in Argyll. So far there are numerous activities planned and
some of these are listed below. One of the main events will of
course be the 7-a-side football tournament which will be hed
on the Saturday and will be open to all.
The tournament is being organised by WC Ian MacInnes and CC John
Sweeney, both based at Oban. Cost is £5 per player with a maximum
pool of 9 players. A limit of 20 teams has been set, so please
hurry and get organised to play in what is hoped will be an annual
event on the SFR calendar. Further details are available from Ian or John.
The weekends planned events include:
- Donor recruitment events at Lochgilphead
Community Fire Station to allow you to join the bone Marrow
register.
- The inaugural Strathclyde Fire & Rescue Johanna MacVicar
Memorial 7 a side Football Tournament
- Friday Night Quiz in the Argyll Hotel, Lochgilphead
- Coffee Morning in Lochgilphead Church Hall
- Saturday night fundraising dance in Ardrishaig Hall
- Sunday Race Day/Karaoke Session
More information on exact times and ticket details will follow
shortly. You can follow the progress of these events on a special Facebook page set up by John Sweeney
or via the Strathclyde Fire & Rescue Facebook
page.
