European Heritage Days are held annually in September in 50 countries.  As part of the Europe-wide celebration, Community Fire Stations across Renfrewshire will be opening their doors to the general public.

The Community Fire Station Open Day will take place on Sunday 11 September, and provides local residents the chance to visit their fire station to gain an insight into the various activities firefighters undertake.

The festivities, taking place between 11am and 4pm, will include many fun activities and quizzes for children including bouncy castles, face painting and fairground rides. Firefighters will also be showcasing the equipment that they use to keep Renfrewshire safe on a daily basis, and there will be chip pan fire and a simulated Road Traffic Collision demonstration throughout the day.  There will also be a number of static displays and information stalls from partner organisations.

Any funds raised on the day will support the Firefighters Charity, Strathclyde Fire & Rescue's Family Support Trust and various local charities.
