Service delivery for Yorkhill and Knightswood
Our Integrated Risk Management Plan commits us to providing a
service which adequately reflects the risks to the communities we
serve. Over time, demographics and incident types change and we are
continually reviewing our emergency cover arrangements.
With this in mind, the Board of Strathclyde Fire & Rescue
recently approved plans to improve Service delivery in Glasgow.
Knightswood and Yorkhill Fire Stations both provide emergency
cover to the North West of the City. Currently, fire cover in
the Knightswood area is provided by one appliance, whilst
Yorkhill is served by two, one Rescue Pump and one Aerial
Rescue Platform.
Research suggests that the redeployment of one Rescue Pump from
Yorkhill to Knightswood would provide a more effective approach to
resource allocation within North West Glasgow and a better balance
of service provision.
The move is now subject to a period of consultation with staff
and external stakeholders throughout the duration of the 6-month
pilot period.
