Death following fire in Alexandria
At 04:22hrs this morning two fire crews from Dumbarton and
Balloch were called to a fire in a ground floor flat at Hillside
Avenue, Alexandria, West Dunbartonshire.
Upon arrival, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus
extinguished the fire and, together with ambulance personnel,
treated one adult male casualty for minor smoke inhalation at the
scene.
As the casualty was being treated, further medical complications
developed and the casualty was taken by ambulance to the Vale of
Leven Hospital.
Strathclyde Police confirmed to fire and rescue personnel at
06:30hrs the fatality of the gentleman involved. The cause of the
fatality is yet to be confirmed and the cause of the fire is
currently being investigated by Strathclyde Fire &
Rescue.
