Fatal fire in Clarkston
Fire Crews from Clarkston and Castlemilk Community Fire Stations
were mobilised at 10:45 pm tonight to a reported dwelling house
fire in the Clarkston area of East Renfrewshire.
On arrival at the scene firefighters, wearing breathing
apparatus, were immediately tasked to tackle the well developed
fire and carry out a search of the affected premises by the
Incident Commander.
Having extinguished the fire the crews located an elderly female
who had tragically perished within the second storey flat of the
tenament property.
The cause of the fire is currently being investigated jointly by
Strathclyde Fire & Rescue's Incident Research and Investigation
Team and Strathclyde Police.
