Firefighters tackle industrial blaze in Irvine
Shortly after 4pm this afternoon, Strathclyde Fire & Rescue
responded to a fire within a disused industrial factory unit in
North Newmoor Industrial Estate, Irvine, Ayrshire.
Upon arrival, local Fire Crews from Kilmarnock & Dreghorn
were met with a well developed fire within the two storey unit,
were they requested immediate assistance and commenced tackling the
blaze.
The fire had quickly spread within the building which has caused
heavy smoke logging within the immediate area.
Fire Crews have requested Strathclyde Police to evacuate
neighbouring factory units as well as temporarily closing nearby
roads which are affected by heavy smoke drifting from the
fire.
At present a total of 60 Firefighters are in attendance tackling
the blaze, which is being brought under control.
There are no reports of any casualties or persons involved at this
stage.
The cause of the fire is unknown at present and will be subject to
investigation by Strathclyde Fire & Rescue in conjunction with
Strathclyde Police.
