Incident update 28th December
Another busy 24 hours for SFR firefighters

Our firefighters attended over 180 incidents in the 24 hours
ending 8am on the 29th December. Among them was a chip pan fire in
Hamilton, a chimney fire in Carstairs and over 80 separate episodes
of flooding.
- Crews from Helensburgh and Dumbarton were called to a
house fire in Dumbarton early on Tuesday afternoon. Firefighters
rescued one male casualty who was treated for the effects of mild
smoke inhalation.
- Later that day, crews from Ardrossan, Dreghorn,
Kilwinning and Hamilton were called to attend a well developed
first floor fire in a block of flats in irvine. Firefighters
wearing breathing apparatus entered the building and rescued one
male casualty, who was taken by ambulance to Crosshouse hospital
suffering from burns and the effects of smoke
inhalation.
- Meanwhile, two crews from East Kilbride donned breathing
apparatus to rescue a man from a blazing upper flat, using hose
reel jets to extinguish the fire before it could spread to
surrounding properties.
- In Greenock, two local crews attended a road traffic
collision involving a single vehicle. Firefighters used extrication
equipment to free a man trapped in the wreckage before handing him
over to ambulance personnel who took him on to Inverclyde Royal
Hospital.
