Read about our latest incidents

In addition to all the clean up work previously mentioned in our news
section which has been carried out by Strathclyde's
firefighters on the M8, M80 and M74, here is a quick look at
some other incidents attended by our personnel.
- Last night crews from Pollok Community Fire Station
attended a road traffic collision on the M77
involving a large goods vehicle. The driver, who was
still in the cab of the lorry, was suffering from neck pains
and was removed from the cab by firefighters and paramedics before
being transferred to the Victoria Infirmary.
- Early this morning, a crew from Dalmellington Community Fire
Station attended a road traffic collision on the A713 near Patna. A
private vehicle had left the road and was lying on its side in a
field trapping the female driver. On leaving the road, the car
had dropped approximately 6ft before coming to rest in the
field. Firefighters used heavy duty cutting equipment to free
the driver and her young passenger. Ambulance personnel checked
over both casualties at the scene before transferring the driver
to Ayr Hospital.
- Crews from Biggar and Abington Community Fire Stations
were drafted in to assist with pumping away water that
threatened to flood nearby homes. The leak was discovered at the
Coulter Reservoir in South Lanarkshire where approximately 2 ft of
water was present. Firefighters assisted in clearing culverts to
allow the water to clear.
- Late on Tuesday afternoon, firefighters from Clydebank
Community Fire Station attended a fire in the kitchen of a
flat on the 12th floor of a multi storey block of flats
in Dalmuir. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and
treated the elderly female resident for smoke inhalation using
oxygen therapy treatment. Ambulance personnel then transferred the
casualty to the Western Infirmary for a precautionary check
up.
