Firefighters attend blast at house
At around 01 15hrs this morning two fire appliances from
Maryhill Community Fire Station attended a call to a suspected
explosion in a house at 37 Stronend Street Glasgow.
On arrival at the scene it was found that a blast had occurred
damaging the rear wall of the house. The female occupier of the
house was treated at the scene for slight injuries but did not
attend hospital.
As a precaution and in the interests of safety Strathclyde
firefighters in co-operation with Police and Ambulance services
evacuated approximately 25 residents from 15 houses. They were
moved to a temporary shelter outside an exclusion zone set up by
the emergency services.
Strathclyde's Fire Investigation team is working with the Police
to identify the cause of the explosion.
