Cool Kit for Hot Footballers
Strathclyde has the best Fire and Rescue football team in the UK
- and now it has the kit to match, courtesy of Glasgow-based
Greaves Sports.
Our
team's dazzling performances have been good enough to win the
British Fire Service Trophy for the last two years but the players'
kit has taken as big a pounding as their opponents'
goals.
Travel costs to away games eat up large amounts of money.
Recently the team had to travel to Belfast where they beat the home
team 7-2, and to Edinburgh where they defeated Fife Fire &
Rescue Service 5-0. This has left little spare cash to replace kit
that is destined for the relegation zone.
An appeal for free football kit was answered by Greaves Sports.
Today the company's director of communications, Stephen McCranor,
gave each team member a home and away strip and a polo shirt. In
addition, Chief Officer Brian Sweeney presented each player with a
track suit, purchased with money raised at Strathclyde Fire &
Rescue's St Andrew's charity ball.
Mr McCranor, on the right of the picture with Mr Sweeney and
team members, said: "We are delighted to support Strathclyde Fire
& Rescue and show our appreciation for the excellent work they
do all year round. Their football team is clearly pretty good as
well and Greaves Sports is proud to sponsor the current British
Fire Service Champions."
Mr Sweeney thanked Greaves for their generosity and said: "The
new strips look really good and our champion players will wear them
with pride."
