Fire in Paisley shop
Firefighters from Paisley Community Fire Station were mobilsed
to a reported shop fire in Paisley's Greenock Road at 5 a.m. this
morning.
On arrival the Incident Commander was confronted with a
developing fire which was spreading into the roofspace of the
single storey shop.
Fire crews overcame initial access difficulties to the premises
using hydraulic cutting equipment and subsequently brought the
blaze under control utilising a combination of ground and aerial
firefighting jets.
Residents of the adjoining tenement properties, who were evacuated
as a precautionary measure, have now been been allowed to return to
thier homes.
Strathclyde Police assisted the Fire Service in traffic management
of the immediate area.
Strathclyde Fire & Rescue and Strathclyde Police will carry out
a joint investigation to establish the cause of the fire.
