Firefighters rescue five trapped by flat fire
Firefighters early this morning rescued five people from a block
of flats after fire broke out in a ground floor flat in
Glasgow.
Two of the people were rescued by ladder from a top floor flat
in the block at Whitefield Road, Govan. Three casualties were taken
by ambulance to the Southern General Hospital and two taken to the
Victoria Infirmary. All were suffering from smoke inhalation.
Unfortunately one of the male casualties has died.
A full investigation into the cause of the fire in being
undertaken by Strathclyde Fire & Rescue in conjunction with
Strathclyde Police.
