Rescues and fatality in Govan flat fire
This morning at 01:55GMT Strathclyde Fire & Rescue responded
to a Ground Floor Flat Fire in Whitefield Road, Govan, Glasgow.
Upon arrival fire crews from Govan & Polmadie entered the
premises wearing breathing apparatus, extinguished the fire and
rescued a total of five casualties. Two of the casualties were
rescued from the top floor flat using ladders.
Three casualties were taken by Ambulance to the Southern General
Hospital, with two taken to the Victoria Infirmary, all suffering
from Smoke Inhalation.
The Fire Service was later informed of one male fatality from the
casualties taken to hospital.
A full investigation into the cause of the fire is being undertaken
by Strathclyde Fire & Rescue in conjunction with Strathclyde
Police.
