Wildfire Cumbernauld

At approximately 1348 hours on the 8th May 2010 Strathclyde Fire & Rescue Operations Control received an emergency call reporting a fire near Fannyside Road, Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire.

At around 16:00hrs this evening,strathclyde fire and rescue were alerted to a report of fire in Patons mill, High street, Johnston.The unoccupied premises (a former threadmill) consisted of various traditionally built structures including the main five storey mill house and tower, which are category One listed buildings.

Fire & Police crews had to withdraw from an incident in Angus Road, Larkfield, Greenock for safety reasons following an attack from a group of youths. Missiles were thrown at the emergency services, whilst Fire Crews attempted to put out bins on fire in the area.
