Fatal Fire in Larkhall
An adult male has tragically lost his fight for life after being
rescued from his home by Strathclyde Fire & Rescue crews
following an early morning fire.
Fire appliances from Larkhall and Hamilton Community Fire
stations were mobilised to a reported fire at Braeside Way in the
South Lanarkshire town of Larkhall just before 8 a.m. this
morning.
On arrival at the scene the Incident Commander was immediately
alerted to the possibility of a resident still being within the end
terrace dwelling. He immediately instructed his crew, who were
donned in breathing apparatus, to forcibly enter the premises to
search and carry out any required rescues in addition to
extinguishing the fire.
The crews quickly encountered the male casualty and carried him
from the house before immediately commencing trauma care.
The casualty was subsequently handed over to the attending
paramedics and Scottish Ambulance Service who continued to
administer medical care before transporting the casualty to Wishaw
General Hospital where, sadly, despite intensive care the male
casualty was subsequently confirmed as a fatality.
Strathclyde Fire & Rescue's Incident Research and Investigation
Team will carry out a joint investigation with Strathclyde Police
into the cause of this incident.
