Large house fire in Ayr

At 4.14 am on the 27th September 2010, Strathclyde Fire & Rescue Operations Control received several emergency calls reporting a fire at 39, Castlehill Road, Ayr.

Firefighters from Ayr community fire station were initially mobilised to the scene.  On arrival the crews were faced with a rapidly developing fire within the roof space of a large detached, two storey unoccupied house.  The incident commander rapidly assessed the fire scene and requested further assistance from South and North Ayrshire community fire stations.
