Water Safety Message
Stay safe this summer

Another extremely busy weekend for our firefighters with
Operations Control Centre in Johnstone receiving a total of 516
calls - with a large proportion of these being Special Services,
which includes Water Rescue.
Tragically, last week a young man drowned in a reservoir in the
Lochwinnoch area and only yesterday, a 15 year old boy lost his
life in a reservoir in Clydebank.
Following these tragic deaths, Strathclyde Fire & Rescue
advises the public to take extreme care in and around canals,
ponds, rivers, reservoirs and lochs during the summer holiday
period as there are hidden dangers that make some waterways
unsuitable and unsafe for swimming or bathing.
Parents should warn children and young people of the dangers of
playing near water and make them aware of the water safety
code.
