Introducing the new Clydesmill Community Fire Station
After years of planning and many months of hard work, the new
community fire station at Clydesmill will become fully operational
tomorrow

The state of the art new facility will be the working base for
the 60 firefighters who will be serving the area and will provide a
standard of accommodation never before seen in the UK fire service.
It will also house a number of other key personnel and will provide
fantastic community facilities for local people.
With its impressive black facade and silver doors, Clydesmill
doesn't look like any other fire station - and it doesn't perform
like one either. The building has been built to the highest
possible standards and has earned an Energy Performance Certificate
rating of B+. A range of other innovations, such as a combined heat
and power system and high tech energy management controls, will
ensure the building continues to play its part in achieving our
environmental objectives for many years to come.
Clydesmill Community Fire Station makes an impressive landmark
on the south bank of the River Clyde and will act as a 'gatehouse'
for our new training centre, which is now being built on the
neighbouring 30-acre site.
As a new era opens, another closes and staff old and new said
goodbye to Parkhead and Cambuslang, which closed their doors after
a combined service of 100 years.
