Firefighters Tackle Industrial Blaze
Read our latest incident round-up

It was a busy day for SFR yesterday with crews attending almost
100 incidents across the area.
At around 12.45pm, crews from Girvan and Maybole were mobilised
to a fire in Grangestone Industrial Estate. Within minutes,
firefighters arrived on scene to find that the insulation
surrounding an 800,000 litre oil tank, which were empty at the
time, was alight.
It soon became clear that due to the potential of the fire
spreading to a nearby building storing over 2,000 litres of
bleach and hydrochloric acid, extra resources were required and
further crews were mobilised. On the ground, firefighters donned
breathing apparatus and used hose reel jets to tackle the fire and
to cool eight nearby oxygen cylinders.
Once the fire was under control, firefighters used thermal
imaging cameras to ensure there was no further risk and the
incident was brought to a safe conclusion.
Earlier, at around 10.20am, firefighters from Maryhill and
Yorkhill were mobilised to an RTC on the M8 in Glasgow. Upon
arrival crews were informed that there was an elderly female
trapped within a car. Firefighters quickly rescued her from
the car and handed her over to the waiting ambulance crew, who
took her to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for a precautionary check
up.
