Incident Round-Up
Firefighters' versatility on show

FIREFIGHTERS proved their versatility yesterday, as crews were
called to aid members of the public in several incidents not
directly related to fire.
Castlemilk firefighters swung into action at 1.57pm, after a car
hit a wall on the town's Menock road. Firefighters made the area
safe after fluid was seen leaking from the vehicle, while one
elderly male casualty, who had passed out at the wheel, was taken
to Victoria Infirmary for further treatment.
Meanwhile, Motherwell firefighters were called to Burnside Tower
in Muirhouse at 5.08pm, after reports of a man trapped in a lift
which was stuck on the second floor. Firefighters helped free
the man, and engineers were subsequently called in to repair the
lift.
And in Johnstone, firefighters were called after a road
traffic collision left a car billowing smoke on Thorn Brae at
5.27pm. While no-one was trapped in the incident, firefighters
assisted police in clearing the road, while the council's Roads
Department was called in to make safe traffic lights which
were left leaning over the main road following the crash.
