Firefighters tackle fatal house blaze in Paisley
Crews confronted by dense smoke and extreme heat

FIREFIGHTERS from Paisley were called to a serious fire in a
property in the Potterhill area of the town in the early hours of
this morning.
The first call was received at 5.18am. Crews who arrived
at the scene were confronted by plumes of thick, heavy smoke
billowing from a traditionally built home.
Acting on information that a person may be inside the
property, firefighters immediately donned breathing apparatus and
began a search of the house, while support from additional crews
was also requested.
Firefighters fought through dense smoke and extreme heat
to extinguish blaze. Tragically, they located a man who was
subsequently declared deceased by paramedics at the scene.
Fire crews will remain in attendance at the scene for a
considerable time. The cause of the fire will be subject of a full
investigation by SFR's Incident Research and Investigation Section
and colleagues from Strathclyde Police.
