Crews attend more than 125 incidents during busy 24-hours

FIREFIGHTERS were kept on their toes during the last 24-hours,
as they attended more than 125 incidents across the Strathclyde
area.
At around 2.10am this morning, crews from Oban were called to
the town's Combie Court following an emergency 999 call. Crews
arrived on scene to find a small fire in the kitchen of a top-floor
flat and were able to quickly extinguish the fire and removed the
affected objects from the house. A woman, who had suffered slight
smoke inhalation during the fire, was taken to Lorne and Islands
Hospital for further treatment.
Earlier, at around 7.45pm yesterday evening, crews from
Clydesmill and Hamilton were called to Blantyre's Whistleberry Park
Industrial Estate after reports of a fire in the doorway of a
single-storey commercial property. Within minutes crews arrived at
the scene and, wearing breathing apparatus sets, quickly
extinguished the fire using hosereel jets. Once the fire was
extinguished crews stripped away the external fittings of the
doorway to ensure that the fire had not spread, bringing the
incident to a safe conclusion.
Finally, at around 3.10pm yesterday afternoon, firefighters from
Hamilton were called to Low Waters Road after reports of a road
traffic collision. On arriving at the scene crews found that the
drivers of the two cars involved in the accident had managed to
escape their vehicles. Firefighters then worked to stabilise the
vehicles and make the scene safe for other road users. Both of the
drivers involved were given precautionary checks by paramedics at
the scene.
