FIREFIGHTERS from Cowcaddens, Maryhill and Calton  used a water tower and main jets to tackle a blaze in the South Side of Glasgow this morning.

Crews were first called to the Benburb Football Club, on Govan's Craigton Drive, at around 7am. Firefighters found the single-storey building was well alight, with flames breaking through the roof, and attacked the fire with main jets and an Aerial Rescue Pump, which was used as a water tower.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control and currently remain on scene carrying out dampening down duties. There were no reports of any injuries.  A full investigation into the cause of the blaze will begin shortly.
