Four taken to hospital following Argyll road traffic collision

Firefighters from Lochgilphead, Inveraray and Minard attend A83 incident

FIREFIGHTERS rescued a woman last night, following a "serious" road traffic collision in Argyll, which saw four people taken to hospital.

At around 7.00pm, crews from Lochgilphead, Inveraray and Minard were called to the incident, which happened on the A83 near Furnace and involved two cars. Firefighters arrived on scene to find two people still trapped inside their vehicles and a further two people who had managed to escape.

Using hydraulic cutting equipment, firefighters freed both casualties and passed them into the care of waiting paramedics.

One woman, who was suffering from pelvic, abdominal and spinal injuries, was taken by air ambulance to the Southern General hospital in Glasgow. The other three casualties, were taken to Midvale hospital in Lochgilphead for further treatment.
