ALAN FORBES
Alan Forbes has been public affairs manager with Strathclyde Fire & Rescue since the start of 2004.
Alan worked over 20 years in local and daily papers (including the Scotsman in Glasgow) before entering PR about nine years ago as senior media officer for Glasgow City Council.
Alan’s appointment to what was then Strathclyde Fire Brigade coincided with the start of a series of major emergencies which included the Rosepark nursing home fire in Uddingston and culminated in the Stockline Plastics factory explosion in Glasgow.
Alan has written a history of Strathclyde Fire Brigade, Everyday Heroes, and three walking guide books to the West of Scotland, all available in good bookshops.
