FIREFIGHTER (CONTROL)
Salary: £19,376 to £26,495 (circa per annum) Strathclyde Fire & Rescue have an excellent opportunity for a number of Firefighter’s (Control) to form an integral part of a team of people whose primary role is to receive emergency calls from members of the public and mobilise appliances and firefighters to deal with incidents throughout Strathclyde. Emergency call handling is a challenging but extremely satisfying job providing a vital service to the community. As the first point of contact for member of the public who are in a particular stressful situation the ability to remain calm under pressure goes without saying. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to equality and diversity. Excellent IT and keyboard skills are essential and experience of Microsoft Office Packages is advantageous. An ability to learn new skills and apply these in practice is essential. Self-development is both encouraged and supported, following an initial probation period there is a supervisory structure in place to allow progression in the service. Excellent communication skills at all levels, attention to detail and the ability to collate and interpret information from a range of sources are essential skills for this role. Applicants must have the capability to think logically and forward plan with an understanding of the implications beyond their own work environment.
