RECRUITMENT COORDINATOR – 2 YEARS

Strathclyde Fire & Rescue have a challenging opportunity within its Recruitment Team for an experienced HR Coordinator. This is an exciting time to join us, as we are reviewing our service delivery model for HR transactional activities.

You will be responsible for maximizing the performance of the Recruitment Team through the provision of a high quality customer driven service and the continuous improvement of HR business processes and procedures. Demonstrating a best value approach, you will be responsible for delivering a range of HR transactional activities. With our new online recruitment system, you will play a key role in its implementation including training stakeholders and developing it to ensure that it continues to meet the needs of the Service. Therefore you must have a proven track record in a similar role.

Knowledge of current and impending employment legislation relative to the role is essential. Membership of CIPD or working towards a professional HR qualification is desirable.

Seeking to achieve best value in everything that you do, you must be able to work on your own initiative, be flexible in your approach and be dependable. You must be able to supervise and co-ordinate the activities of a team working to strict deadlines under pressure in a fast changing environment. You therefore must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), be assertive and conscientious in your approach and maintain a high performance culture within the team.

You will also support the development of key performance indicators for the team and be able to provide management information and statistical returns. You must therefore be able to provide reports ensuring data accuracy and quality is maintained at all times.

Previous experience in using various Microsoft software packages within the working environment in particular Word and Excel is essential.

In addition to the skills that you currently have, you must be willing and able to learn new skills and apply them to the working practices of you and your team.

TECHNICAL QUALITY MANAGER
Technical Services, Fleet Services, Headquarters, Bothwell Road, Hamilton, ML3 0EA

Grade: 8
Salary: £28,341 - £30,969 circa per annum
Hours: 35 per week

Strathclyde Fire & Rescue have a challenging opportunity for a Technical Quality Manager to provide full managerial support and supervision for the Operations Workshops in Cowcaddens and Management / Supervision of the administration sections of both Fleet Support and Operations Administration based in SFR Headquarters, Hamilton.

You must hold a category C driving licence, however, it would be desirable if you held a category C plus E driving licence and have access to your own transport. You must be a time served technician or mechanic with a City in Guilds or Equivalent qualification.

As a section manager seeking to achieve best value in everything that you do, you must be able to work on your own initiative, be able to plan and organise the work of others and be experienced in maximising resources to ensure the efficient and effective achievement of the core objectives. As a dedicated team player, committed to SFR’s Fleet Services culture and objectives, you must be able to develop teamwork within a busy multi-tasking environment to maintain a high performance culture within the team. You therefore must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be assertive and conscientious in your approach

You must be committed to your own self-development as well as developing others within the team. You should be flexible / adaptable and resourceful in managing the changing needs of the department and the Service.

You will also have good technical problem solving and analytical skills and have previous experience in using various Microsoft software packages within the working environment, in particular Word and Excel.

You should also have knowledge of current legislation i.e. Vehicle Inspection Legislation, VOSA requirements. Have a comprehensive and good technical knowledge of past and present vehicle builds, and auxiliary equipment and systems. You should also be able to compile reports from Management Systems and have experience in working and developing of Quality Systems together with a good understanding of Best Value and need for continuous improvement.

It would be desirable if you were a member of an appropriate professional body, have experience on video and data loggers / AVLS systems, be conversant in the use of Fleet Management Systems and holder of CPC or equivalent certification.

SENIOR DATA ANALYST

Salary: £25,184 - £27,519 circa per annum
Hours: 35 per week

Strathclyde Fire & Rescue have a challenging opportunity for a Senior Data Analyst. You will lead and manage a team responsible for data analysis.

You should be able to analyse data and produce reports to identify trends, highlighting areas of interest and maintaining the quality of data. You will manage existing and recommend new data sets. You will also co-ordinate data sets and analysis methods with other organisations.

It is essential that you have a degree in IT or related discipline and one years experience in data analysis or technical development. Experience in Customer liaison and management of workload is also essential as is a flexible approach and good communication skills.

As a section manager seeking to achieve best value in everything that you do, you must be able to work on your own initiative, be able to plan and organise the work of others and be able to working to strict and conflicting deadlines under pressure have the ability to adopt to the changing needs of the section / department. You therefore must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be assertive and conscientious in your approach and maintain a high performance culture within the team. You will also be able to demonstrate confidentiality in your approach where required.

Experience of report writing and experience in GIS software systems and GIS analysis methods, along with detailed knowledge of data providers and issues would be desirable. You should also have an understanding of SQL and data flow modelling.

TEMPORARY KITCHEN ASSISTANT

Monday – Thursday: 0900 hours – 1400 hours

Strathclyde Fire & Rescue hhave an opportunity for a temporary kitchen assistant to undertake the preparation, cooking and the serving of food normally under the general direction of the cook for our staff at North Lanarkshire Area Headquarters.

You should have experience of working in a catering environment, good health and safety awareness and the ability to work without supervision while producing high standards of work.

You will also carry out hygiene ad cleanliness duties associated within working in a kitchen and dinning room area. Other duties will include cleaning surrounds, general kitchen and dining room activities e.g. washing up, clearing away tables, etc.

You should also be in possession of a recognised course of study in food preparation and hygiene.

CARETAKER
STRATHCLYDE FIRE & RESCUE TRAINING CENTRE, CHEAPSIDE HOUSE, 90 MAITLAND STREET, COWCADDENS, GLASGOW, G4 0HX

Grade: 2A
Salary: £12,636 - £14,237 circa per annum
Hours: 37 per week

have an opportunity for a caretaker based at our Training Centre in Glasgow. You will be responsible for the opening and closing of the Training Centre and for the security of the Centre premises. You will assist with the setting up of training areas and clearing up on completion of practical training exercises. A degree of physical fitness and strength is required as you will be responsible for the collection and delivery of equipment. You must therefore have a current driving licence.

You must have the ability to work with minimum supervision, but also as part of a team. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate well at all levels. As this post requires some working outwith normal hours, you must be flexible in your approach.

The role requires a degree of general maintenance and handyperson duties therefore previous experience in a similar environment and some knowledge of plant would be desirable.
