Current legislation requires employers to provide training to staff in the action to be taken in the event of a fire.
Aim
To develop knowledge of fire extinguisher use, fire safety at work and appreciate human behaviour in response to a fire incident.
Designed for
Designated fire wardens/marshals or other staff who are responsible for co-ordinating staff evacuation and/or first aid firefighting.
Objectives
By the end of the course, students will understand the following principles:
- Human behavioural responses in fire emergency situations.
- Basic principles of fire safety and fire protection.
- Theory and operating principles of fire extinguishing equipment.
- Practical use of fire extinguishers and general fire extinguishing equipment.
- Means of escape and evacuation procedures.
- Escape from fire scenario/presentation.
