Managing Safely IOSH Accreditation Course
Designed for
Personnel in supervisory or management positions who need a basic understanding of health and safety at work. In particular those involved in reviewing departmental systems for safety, introducing new controls or implementing changes for a more effective safety policy.
Certification
IOSH award (Institute of Occupational Safety & Health).
Objectives
By the end of the course, students will understand the following principles:
- Safety Management Systems - the role of risk assessment and how safety management links with other aspects of management, legal requirements and the social environment.
- Reactive monitoring, incident reporting, check systems, recording of reported incidents, conducting investigations and recording and analysing results.
- Risk assessment and risk control - identifying hazards, rating risks and selecting workplace precautions and recording results of risk assessments and reviews.
- Preparation and use of active monitoring checklists.
- Safety Policy - organising and conducting a management review of the safety management system and preparing for a health and safety audit.
- Identifying relevant legislation and obtaining advice and guidance on compliance.
- Managing the sources of hazards addressed in Working Safely.
Duration: Five days.
Location: SFR Training Centre, Glasgow or other location.
