Basic Marine Fire Prevention & Firefighting Training Course
These courses are delivered in accordance with STCW 95 Regulations. SFR Training Centre is approved by the Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA).
Candidates must be aware that this course is physically demanding, involving live firefighting and the wearing of breathing apparatus.
Objectives
By the end of the course, students will understand the following principles:
- Basic principles of fire.
- Theoretical and practical operation of fire extinguishing equipment.
- Appreciate the hazards involved in firefighting at sea.
- Develop proficient knowledge of fire prevention / precautions required on board ship.
- Develop knowledge of first-aid firefighting using portable and semi-portable extinguishers.
- Understand and carry out basic firefighting duties of a seafarer in an organised fire party.
- Familiarisation of firefighting equipment (portable and fixed) on board ship.
- Practical firefighting exercises under realistic conditions.
- Search and rescue procedures.
Duration: Three days.
