An RDS Firefighter's job is both challenging and demanding and
is extremely rewarding as you will be providing a vital service to
the community in which you live.
There are stressful and hazardous situations to be faced and you
will be required to deal with these while providing comfort and
reassurance to members of the community.
Another key element of the role involves Community Fire Safety
Initiatives within your local area.
As an RDS Firefighter, you will automatically be entitled to the
benefits offered to our other employees. In addition, you
will be rewarded by being paid:
- A percentage of the Wholetime Firefighter rate known as a
"retainer" currently commencing at £2,116 per year increasing to
£2,204 following successful completion of the initial training
period.
- An allowance based on the same hourly rate as our Wholetime
Firefighters for attending training nights and call outs, currently
commencing at £9.66 per hour increasing to £10.06 per hour again
following the initial training period.
