Yorkhill is situated on the north side of the River Clyde with the station area extending along the north bank of the river, and provides fire cover to Partick, Woodlands, Broomhill, Scotstoun and Anderston areas of the city.

Housing is mainly public sector, pre post war, flatted properties up to five storeys in height, with several small areas of affluent private sector housing throughout. There are 23 residential blocks of flats of up to 25 floors.

Industry is varied and includes heavy engineering on South Street /Castlebank Street and light engineering on the many model industrial estates throughout the area.

Maryhill is situated to the north-west of the city centre with the station area extending to the north and west, and provides fire cover to the housing estates of Maryhill, Ruchill, Summerston and the older residential parts of Glasgow around the Byres Road area.

Housing is mainly private sector, pre war flatted properties up to five storeys in height. The Dowanhill and Hillhead areas have many premises converted to student bedsit accommodation and pose access difficulties to the fire service. There are 44 blocks of residential flats of up to 25 floors.

Industry is very sparse and consists of mainly light engineering.

Housing is mainly public sector, pre war, flatted properties up to five storeys in height. There is significant new building of two storey houses around the Robroyston area.There are 62 blocks of residential flats of up to 33 floors.

Industry is predominately heavy engineering, and although in decline it is still active and includes BR Engineering, Blindcraft Industries and a major sawmill / timber storage area.
